For The Love of Persian Cats [all cats]

The moment I understood the profound magic of a cat was the day a neighbor’s feline ambassador walked up to me as a child. When I reached down to pet her, her internal motor roared to life, a deep, resonating purr that vibrated right through me. That sound was the starting gun for a lifelong obsession.

It wasn’t long before I rescued my first abandoned kitten, a tiny, fragile creature who taught me early lessons in responsibility and unconditional love. By age 17, I was captivated by the majestic beauty of the Persian breed, purchasing my first. Just a few years later, in my early twenties, I dove headfirst into the world of breeding Persian cats.

What I quickly learned was that breeding isn't merely having "a boy and a girl kitty." It is an intensely rigorous and expensive endeavor that demands absolute dedication to health and genetics. My passion turned into a mission of study. I went far beyond simple articles, seeking mentorship from seasoned breeders, pouring over veterinary texts, and engaging in deep, practical research on nutrition, temperament, and disease prevention. I was determined that every kitten born under my care would be, first and foremost, healthy and happy, and secondarily, beautiful. This period established the foundational, hard-won knowledge that guides everything I do today.

In my early 40s, I decided to transition from breeder to dedicated, happy cat owner, but the learning never stopped. That deep dive into feline health remained my default mode.

A few years ago, that commitment was tested. My husband’s cherished black Exotic Persian, Smokie, lost his battle with heart disease on his 13th birthday. Losing him was heartbreaking. Then, shortly after, my daughter faced the news that her beloved five-year-old dog was succumbing to cancer.

In the midst of this grief, I read a striking article that pointed out a sobering truth: our house pets are not living as long as they used to. The two leading causes of death among our beloved cats and dogs are now heart disease and cancer—and for cats, we must add kidney disease to that deadly list.

My eyes snapped open. This was the intersection of my decades of practical, researched experience and my most profound personal losses. This website is the result of that realization.

My mission here is simple: to share the knowledge born from those years of intense study and experience, translating complex information into actionable steps you can take today. We are going to speak about their diet, their comfort, their proactive health, and just everything I love about Persian (and all) cats. We owe it to our companions to give them what they deserve: happy, healthy, long lives.

Welcome. Let’s love our cats, intentionally.
